I have had the pleasure to meet the people, Uruguayans, known as uruguayos, who are renowned for their warmth, friendliness, and progressive values. They embrace a strong sense of community, valuing family, friends, and social connections. Uruguayans are also proud of their country's commitment to social justice, equality, and human rights. Uruguay has a rich gaucho heritage, which is still celebrated in rural areas. Gauchos, skilled horsemen and ranchers, played a crucial role in shaping Uruguay's identity. Their traditions, including their distinctive clothing, music, and cuisine, continue to influence Uruguayan culture.
Montevideo: A City of Contrasts
Let’s start form its capital city, Montevideo, the heart of Uruguay, exudes a captivating blend of old-world charm and modern dynamism. The city's historic Ciudad Vieja (Old City) whispers tales of colonial times, with its cobblestone streets and neoclassical architecture.
